Fourth of July Luminaries
Supplies
brown or colored paper luncheon bags (as many as needed)
white, blue, and/or red tissue paper
scissors or craft knife
glue or tape
clay style kitty litter or sand
tea lights
Directions:
Start by drawing or tracing stars onto paper bags. You can make one large or several smaller stars per bag, the choice is yours.
Next, using scissors or a craft knife, cut out the stars. If a craft knife is used be sure to put something inside the bag to guard against cutting through to the other side (unless you want stars on both sides).
After cutting out the stars use colored tissue paper to make squares 1 or 2 inches larger than the stars. Fasten the tissue on the inside of the bag with glue or tape, covering the stars.
Add kitty litter or sand to weight the bags and nestle a tea light in the center. You're done!!! Place your bags on the deck, patio, or even along the edges of the driveway for a festive look. Light the candles when ready, but please be sure not to leave them unattended for any length of time, especially if windy.
